  1. Education - is a process of education and training of people for the benefit of society, the individual and the state, which sets and levels of education. What are the differences of education systems in Russia and the UK? Compare the two systems.
First, education in Russian schools starts at the age of 7 and lasts for 11 years, and education in England is compulsory for all citizens aged from 5 to 16 years. Second, Russia's education consists of primary, lower secondary and upper secondary education. In this case, there are types of schools: primary school, secondary school, high schools, high school, special school. When in England there is a huge variety of schools: boarding schools, schools for boys, schools for girls, mixed, full-school and so on. And of course a significant difference in the school subjects. If we compare the Russian and British education system, the first subject of the number increases with each class, as in the British system the opposite - in the lower classes of objects are quite a few, but high school students are studying all 4 subjects.

  2. Great Britain is a country with centuries-old traditions of higher education. The first English University – Oxford University-was founded in the XI century. Since then, on the banks of the foggy Albion has grown a lot of schools. Today, some of them, like Oxford, need no introduction.
University College London (UCL) was founded in London in 1826. At the time of opening, UCL became the first University located in the British capital, as well as the first educational institution of the country, where students were accepted regardless of their religion. In addition, in 1876, the University before other universities in the UK began to accept women for training.
University of Cambridge – the second oldest University in Britain and the most important rival of Oxford in the battle for places in international rankings (applicants are prohibited in the same year to apply to both universities).
University of Oxford is the oldest University in the UK. The official date of the opening of the University is not established: according to some reports, the first students, mainly clerics, appeared in Oxford in the XI century.

  8. 1)The term ‘gap year’, meaning a one-year break in studies, is used to describe the intermediate period between graduation and entering a university or receiving a university degree and starting a career.
Most young people take a gap year immediately after graduation. On the one hand, this is a rest from routine, study, exams, the first opportunity to feel truly independent. On the other hand, all past similar experiences tell us how much new and useful things they managed to see and do over the past year

  11. 4)Studying in the UK is starting early. Three-year-olds are sent to the Nursery school, this is an analogue of our kindergarten, but education and development are devoted a significant part of the time. From the age of 5 children go to a two-year school of preparation for elementary classes - Pre-preparatory school), from 7 to 11 years old - an elementary school (Primary, Elementary or Preparatory school). At the age of 11, the secondary school begins, where children study at the age of 16 and pass the final exams for the certificate of secondary education - GCSE. This certificate is sufficient to start self-employment, but does not give the right to enroll in higher education. And finally - the last two classes of preparation for university entrance: A-Level. At this point, schoolchildren are already determining where they will go and choose 3-5 disciplines, which for two years will be hard at work. A-level final exams are also considered to be admitted to the university. Requirements for the estimates depend on the prestige of the university and the competition. For example, for admission to Cambridge all the items you need to pass on the maximum score. Higher education in the UK, as in most countries of the world, is divided into a bachelor's program (3-4 years) and a master's program (1-2 years).
Secondary education for UK citizens is compulsory and free. A-Level and education in high school - paid, both for citizens and for foreigners.

  26. 4.After all, you can’t say that British teachers are much stricter than ours and require the impossible from students, and the curricula on paper sometimes are not very different from those of our universities. But somehow, British universities change even the most inveterate mischief-makers who spend 5-6 hours in libraries preparing for the next lesson. Or do not spend. And fly out at the first session. Unlike our education system, every student in Britain knows exactly why he ended up at the university and what knowledge he needed. Here, the possibility of influencing our assessments in ways that are familiar to the CIS countries is completely excluded. The teacher is only interested in your knowledge, and not in the connection of your parents - it is impossible to “resolve”. And given the cost of education in almost any local university, every normal student values his place. So it turns out to be ridiculously simple system: study or pack your bags.

There is a huge variety of schools in the UK.Mixed schools, boys 'schools, girls' schools, private schools .Most British children enter state primary schools at the age of 5, and then move on to secondary education classes at the same school or transfer to College at the age of 11. Secondary education in England for children under 16 is compulsory. All public and private schools teach children from 11 to 16 and prepare them for GCSE.At the age of 16, after completing the compulsory education cycle, students can either leave school and start working, or continue their education in order to go to University. Those who wish to enter the University are offered a two-year a-levels course. After completing a two-year A-levels course, students can get either a professional or higher education.Higher education is paid for both its citizens and foreigners. For the latter, it is more expensive. Students who are citizens of the country can study in debt, which they begin to pay back only after receiving a diploma and getting a job with a minimum wage of 21 thousand pounds a year. If this does not happen, you do not need to repay the debt.

  99. 1. A ‘gap year’ is a period of time, usually an academic year, when a student takes a break from formal education. It is often spent travelling or working.
People used to think that taking a gap year was negative. In the past you took a gap year if you had to retake exams or had problems between finishing school and starting higher education and then starting a career. But now, universities positively encourage a gap year and employers are happy to give jobs to students who take a gap year. A year out between school or college and higher education or employment, or between higher education and a job, can give young people useful learning experiences, help them pick up new skills and make them more independent. Employers and universities want to see evidence of enterprise, maturity and commitment both in and outside formal education.
Young people in formal education usually take a gap year when they are about 18 years old, before going to university. They can also be taken at a different time, for example, by someone who wants to break up their degree course or to do something different before a postgraduate course.
