Polygons, like any simple closed shapes, divide the set of points of the plane into three subsets, namely: the outer, inner, and the shape itself. Here are some types of polygons: Triangle, Square, rhombus, parallelogram, pentagon . All these shapes are subdivided into different subsets. For example, there are triangles: equilateral triangle, right triangle, isosceles triangle. All this can be found in the video. The video turned out to be informative and useful.

  73. This video talks about polygons. The basic definition of a polyhedron is a multi-sided figure since it has several sides. To distinguish them, you need to know the properties of which polygons consist: sides (straight line segments of which the consists of polygon), vertices (points where the sides intersect) and angles (formed by the intersecting lines). In fact, in Greek, the word polygon literally means many angles. A polygon is a closed shape. It is also a two-dimensional or flat shapes, that is, all vertices must lie in the same plane. Polygons themselves cannot be 3d shapes, but thanks to them you can make a 3d shape. For example, when creating a 3d box. The box is not a polygon, but each of its flat sides is a polygon.
    Therefore, the exact definition of a polygon looks like this: a polygon is a multi-sided figure that has sides, vertices and angles.
    Some polygons have special names depending on how many sides they have. A three-sided polygon is called a triangle. Therefore, a quadrilateral polygon is called a quadrilateral. Quadrilaterals are shapes like squares, rectangles, and parallelograms. Five-sided polygons are called pentagons. Polygons that have five, six, or any number of sides are called regular polygons if all their angles are equal. And irregular polygons if their angles are not equal.

    Separately, I would like to consider such a figure as a circle. The video says that it is not a polygon, approving that a circle has no straight sides of vertices or corners, saying only that it is a closed two-dimensional figure, but if you take a polygon and keep increasing the number of sides, then it becomes more and more round. This was the first method used to calculate the number Pi. In addition, a circle has an infinite number of internal angles/sides.

    As for the semantic load of the video, it was very useful. I learned a new term- Polygon. How to distinguish it from a non-polygon. Although at first glance many figures can be called a polygon, however, it also has distinctive features. Firstly, the number of sides and angles in the polygon must coincide and, secondly, it must be closed, i.e. divide the plane into two parts - internal and external. There are quadrilaterals( square,rectangle,parallelogram, rhombus ), triangles, pentagons, hexagons and octagons. I also liked the very interesting format of the survey game.

    Now not much about what you know about this topic. Polygons have sides, vertices, corners, and a flat shape. Only closed figures can be polygons. From polygons, you can create a three-dimensional figure, but this is no longer a polygon. The term polygon is new to me, I have not heard about it before.

    three parts: the angles, the side and the vertices. Also, all polygons are closed shapes. The closeness of the shape means
    that the sides are connected so that there are no gaps. And the last thing we need to know about polygons is that they are

  77. In this lesson I've learned about another important point of geometry -- it's polygons. Polygons just means a multi-sided shape, and these shapes all have multiple sides. To understand what is polygon we have to know the three parts that make up all polygons:
    1) Sides -- just the straight line segments that make up a polygon
    2) vertices -- are the points where the sides intersect
    3) angles -- are formed by the intersecting lines

    The next thing we need to know about polygons is that they're 'closed' shapes. It means that the sides are connected so that there are no graps.
    The area inside the shape is separated from the area outside the shape, and there's no way to get from the inside to the outside without crossing line.

    And the last thing we need to know about polygons is that they're 2 dimensional, or flat shapes. That means that all the vertices must lie on the same plane.
    If any one of the vertices were to move forwards or backwards, so that it wasn't in the same plane as all the other vertices, then it wouldn't be a flat shape anymore. Flat shape are also called planar shapes because all of their points are on the same plane.

    You can use polygons to make 3d shapes, like a box for example, which is not a polygon

    Circle is a curved shape, so it's not a polygon

    so the curved part disqualifies it as a polygon. Polygon has to have only straight sides
    Also if any lines cross so it can't be a polygon

    Some polygons have special names depending on how many sides they have.

    Here I would like to pay attention to the circle.

  82. This video touches on the topic of polygons and their properties.
    And the first thing that is said is how a polygon differs from other geometric objects. And it differs in that it consists of 3 parts: 1) sides (straight line segments forming a polygon); 2) vertices (points of connection of the sides); 3) corners (also formed by the connection of the sides).
    In addition, polygons are closed shapes, which means that all straight line segments are tightly connected and have no gaps and exits from outside to inside and vice versa.
    Polygons are also considered two-dimensional shapes, as are points, lines and angles. This means that all the vertices of the figures are in the same plane.
    And finally, the video listed such types of polygons as a triangle, a quadrilateral, a hexagon, and so on.

  83. Author of this video talks to us about polygons, what are they and how to define them.
    Polygon - is a multisided flat closed shape with specific properties like sides, angles and vertices.
    Now what’s all this?
    1) Sides - are straight line segments that make up a polygon.
    2) Angles( angles of a polygon) - are just angles which are formed by intersecting line segments(sides). In fact in Greek, the word polygon literally means many angles(poly - many, gon - angles).
    3) Vertices - are points where the sides intersect.
    4) Closed shape - is a shape with connected sides, so there is no gaps. The area inside the shape is separated from the area outside of it.
    5)Flat shape( two dimensional or planar) - is a shape where all vertices lie on the same plane.

    Some polygons have special names, depending on how mane sides they have:
    • Triangles - 3-sided polygon;
    • Quadrilaterals - 4-sided polygon;
    • Pentagon - 5-sided polygon;
    • Hexagon - 6-sided polygon;
    • Octagon - 8-sided polygon;
    • Decagon - 10-sided polygon;
    N-sided polygons with equal angles are called regular polygons. N-sided polygons with different angles are called irregular.
    That is pretty much it. Thanks for reading my comment :D.

  84. After watching this video, I ( Shanovazov Magomedsalam Shanovazovich) consider that I know what polygon is. Polygon is a shape with multiple sides. It is closed and flat. It consist of sides, vertices and angles.

    Let's analyze all these properties.
    1) A side is a line segment connecting the vertices of a polygon.
    2) A vertex is a point which lie between two sides of a polygon.
    3) An angle is what is formed when two sides intersect at the vertex.
    4) A closed polygon is a polygon with no gaps.
    5) A polygon is called planar(flat) if all its vertices lie in the same plane.

    There are different names for polygons depending on the amount of their sides, such as triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon , octagon, hexagon, etc. There are infinite number of different polygons , but we don’t usually use them. The most popular ones are triangle and quadrilateral. Both of them have subsets. For triangle it is isosceles, equilateral and right triangles. For quadrilateral it is square, rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid and rhomb.

    Also all polygons are distinguished by equality of their angles. A polygon with equal angles is called regular, the opposite one is irregular.

    And after all your doubting, I ( Shanovazov Magomedsalam Shanovazov) have proved myself as a polygon expert( I have a license).WOHOO!

    Polygons are 2 are flat shapes. All vertices of a polygon lie on the same plane.
    Flat shape are also called planar shapes because all of their points are on the same plane.

    You can use polygons to make 3d shapes.

    Circle is a curved shape, and it's not a polygon.

    If line segments of the figure intersect, then it is not a polygon.

    Some polygons are named by people depending on amount of its sides: octagon, decahon, pentagon, etc.

  86. I am pleased with this video because it reveals the full significance of this figure
    However, I decided to supplement this video a little
    A regular pentagon is a geometric shape, a regular polygon with five sides.
    A regular pentagon can be constructed using a compass and ruler, or by inscribing it into a given circle, or by constructing it based on a given side. This process is described by Euclid in his "Beginnings" around 300 BC
    In nature
    Studies of the formation of water ice on a flat copper surface at temperatures of 100-140 K have shown that at first chains of molecules with a width of about 1 nm of a pentagonal structure, not hexagonal, appear on the surface.
    In conclusion, I would like to say that the Pentagon is one of the many polygons that is used in life as a building of the US government

  87. In this video I learned the concept of polygons. A polygon is a closed, flat shape, as the name implies, has many angles and consists of sides, angles, vertices. A side is a segment connecting the vertices of a polygon, a vertex is a point lying between two sides of the polygon, and the angle are what is formed when the two sides intersect at the vertex. There are also different names of polygons depending on the number of sides: quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon, octagon. Thank you for such an interesting and informative video.

  88. This video is about polygons.
    They come in from sides, tops and corners. sides are just straight line segments that make up a polygon. The vertices are the intersection points of the sides, and the corners are formed by solid lines. See also A polygon is a closed figure. there are also various polygons: triangles, quadrangles, pentagons, etc.
    The video was educational for me. I learned a lot of new English words and interesting facts.

  89. In this video, we are told about polygons. What is a polygon?Examples of polygons.Definition of a polygon.Properties of the polygon. what parts it consists of (there are three of them, by the way). And also the amazing fact that in Greek the word "polygon" means a lot of angles. It explains what the closed form means and what is open (for example, with an ant).Now we know that the polygon must be closed! Is a polygon a flat shape or a three-dimensional one? Even this question can be answered in this video.In the middle of the video, a very interesting game was waiting for us, thanks to which we had a really good idea that there is a polygon.And the last thing to talk about in this video is how some polygons are called, such as a triangle, a quadrilateral, a pentagon, a hexagon and an octagon.

  90. This video is so fascinating! the presenter explains it very well. You can also use the game to fix the material.
    Thanks to this video, I learned a new term "polygon" and how it differs from a non-polygon. The polygon has the same number of sides, vertices and corners, and also has a flat shape. It must also be closed (divides the plane into 2 parts: internal and external).
    The presenter also explained the types of polygons such as triangle, quadrilateral (rectangle, square, rhombus, parallelogram), pentagon, hexagon and octagon.

  91. Thanks to this video, the study of polygons has become much more interesting and easier.
    The video helped me very quickly to memorize all kinds of polygons, and recognize whether a figure is a polygon or not.
    And an interesting game helped to consolidate the acquired knowledge for a long time.
    I was impressed by the great concept of the video and the good pronunciation of the presenter.

  92. The video tutorial tells the presenter about polygons, polygons and their examples. And in addition there is a game that will help to correct their shortcomings in the material. With the help of the video, I realized how a polygon differs from a non-polygonal one. The polygon has the same number of sides of vertices and corners, and also has a flat shape. The presenter also told us about the types of polygons, for example: triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon and so on.

  93. Very interesting and informative video.
    Despite the fact that I had a concept of what a polygon is, this video opened my eyes to a lot.
    It was very interesting to listen to the author of this video, as he explained how to distinguish a polygon using various interesting examples. I especially liked the insect example.
    Thanks to this example, I will forever remember that the polygon must be closed !!!
    Such examples force, or rather help to remember any rule.

    The game that the presenter resorted to helped me understand that the landfill really exists.
    The presenter began the explanation from the most elementary, touching on such concepts as sides, corners, vertices, etc. It seems to me that after watching this video, even a schoolboy will be able to deal with this topic, since everything is explained so intelligibly.

    Polygons undoubtedly have beauty and are used in our lives very extensively. Polygons are important to us, without them we would not be able to build such beautiful buildings, sculptures, frescoes, graphics and much more. Mathematics possesses not only truth, but also the highest beauty - refined and strict, sublimely pure and striving for genuine perfection, which is characteristic only of the greatest examples of art.

    Without geometry, there would be nothing, because all the buildings that surround us are geometric shapes. And this means that we need to have at least some idea about polygons.
    Therefore, I strongly recommend watching this video to those who are incompetent in this topic.
    Thanks to !!!

  94. As you know, already in grades 1-3, students get ideas about the simplest geometric shapes. In the second grade, children count the elements of polygons: vertices, sides, corners, measure their sides. In the third grade, students divide a rectangle into equal squares and use it to illustrate the displacement law of multiplication, using the problem of calculating the perimeter of this rectangle, the distributive law of multiplication with respect to addition is illustrated. In the fourth grade, ideas about the area of the figure are formed, while the main attention is paid to calculating the area of a rectangle and a square.

    In grades 5-6, the polygon acts not only as a means of studying arithmetic and algebra elements, but also as an object of study. Much attention is paid to the development of spatial representations of students, working with the image of a polygon.

    This video gives a good explanation to children about polygons. The drawings and diagrams that are used give a correct idea of how to draw these figures. The video is really very useful. I recommend watching it.

  95. The school geometry course occupies an important place in the mathematical education of students. During the study of geometry, students develop spatial imagination, logical thinking. They acquire the skills of using a ruler, a compass, a right angle. Students are convinced that the theoretical positions they study are a reflection of reality and are reflected in the practical activities of people. In the geometry course of grades 7-9, geometric shapes on a plane are studied, with the main focus being on the study of polygons and their properties. In the course of studying the topic "Polygons", many new concepts are introduced, theorems are studied, the concept of the inverse data theorem is introduced, solving problems requires the student to update the existing theoretical knowledge.

  97. In the course of geometry of grades 7-9, geometric shapes on a plane are systematically studied, and much attention is paid to polygons, the study of their properties, the consideration of quantities characterizing a flat polygon. The 7th grade geometry course is essentially the geometry of a triangle. The main attention in the study of the topic should be paid to the formation of skills to prove the equality of triangles. The introduction of the concepts of median, bisector and height of a triangle, properties of an isosceles triangle expands the class of problems for proof. The topics "Quadrilaterals" are studied in the 8th grade geometry course. Here, students' skills to conduct evidence-based reasoning are further developed. The basis for this is the study and application of the signs and properties of the types of quadrangles considered in the topic.

  102. A person shows interest in polygon throughout his conscious activity – from a two-year-old child playing with wooden cubes to a mature mathematician enjoying reading books about polyhedra. Some of the correct bodies are found in nature in the form of crystals, others in the form of viruses (which can be viewed with an electron microscope). Bees built hexagonal honeycombs long before the appearance of man, and in the history of civilization, the creation of multi-faceted bodies (like pyramids), along with other types of plastic arts, goes back centuries.
    A polygon is a flat closed geometric shape formed by straight line segments called sides. According to the number of sides that form these shapes, there are different names and formats.

    An important feature of polygon recognition is the knowledge that its straight segments never intersect except at the ends.

  103. A polygon is a geometric shape that is a closed polyline.

    There are three ways to define polygons:

    A polygon is a flat closed polyline;
    A polygon is a flat closed polyline with no self-intersections;
    A polygon is a part of a plane that is bounded by a closed polyline.
    The vertices of the polyline are called the vertices of the polygon, and the segments are called the sides of the polygon.

    The vertices of a polygon are called adjacent if they are the ends of one of its sides.

    The segments connecting the non-adjacent vertices of the polygon are called diagonals.

    The angle (or inner angle) of a polygon at a given vertex is the angle formed by its sides converging at this vertex and located in the inner region of the polygon.
    The outer corner of a convex polygon at a given vertex is the angle adjacent to the inner corner of the polygon at this vertex. In general, the outer angle is the difference between 180° and the inner angle

    This video talks about polygons and its properties.
    A polygon has three parts: sides, corners, and vertices. In Greek, they mean a set of corners, which are closed shapes. This means that the area inside the shape is further from the area outside the shape.
    It also says here that polygons are two-dimensional or planar shapes whose vertices lie in the same plane.
    The last thing we need to know is that some polygons have special names.
    For example: polygons with three sides are called triangles, with five pentagons, with eight octagons.
    Polygons are regular and irregular. Correct if all their angles are equal and irregular if their angles are not equal.
    Thank you very much for the video, it was very helpful!
